Bring One for the Chipper

Keep Oconee County Beautiful is sponsoring “Bring One for the Chipper 2024,” from December 25 through January 4, 2025, as part of a statewide effort to recycle Christmas trees. Trees can be dropped off at any of the five Oconee County Waste/Recycling Centers during regular business hours. Please remove all decorations, lights, and stands and place in designated areas. If dropping off trees after January 4 please take to the Highway 441 location for the month of January.

This annual event continues 30 years of tradition of actively participating in environmental education and stewardship by providing drop-off points in the community.  The Christmas trees are recycled by chipping them into mulch for use in landscaping, or by using them as fish or animal habitats.

With 30 years of treecycling in Georgia, this is the largest event of its kind in the nation.  Since 1991, over 6 million Christmas trees have been diverted from landfills and put to a greater use.  Thank you very much for your awareness and cooperation in getting Christmas trees to a “mulch” better place.
